IARRC (International Autonomous Robot Racing Competition) is a competition created to promote autonomous mobile robotics technology. The competition started back in April 2005. Today, over 60 students from different universities within North America participate in the international competition. This year the competition is being held at the University of Waterloo on July 15th-16th. There are two parts to this competition, the drag race and the circuit race. The drag race (Figure 1) is a fully autonomous race against another team on a straight, outdoor track. The circuit race (Figure 2) is autonomous race, but the track is a closed loop with twists and turns.
